Grayslist Constitution

Preamble

We, the residents of Grays Landing, form Grayslist to build a community based on equity, solidarity, and shared care.
This constitution is our collective agreement. It guides how we live, share, and organize together.
Grayslist exists to replace isolation with connection and competition with cooperation. As we grow, we may formalize as a nonprofit or cooperative, but our foundation will always remain rooted in community ownership and mutual aid.

Article I: Purpose and Mission

Grayslist provides a platform for sharing skills, goods, time, and support among residents.
Our purpose is to make sure that everyone in our community has access to what they need to live well.
We work together to build systems that are fair, adaptable, and centered on people rather than profit.
Every act of participation strengthens our bonds and helps us care for one another.

Article II: Structure and Governance

Grayslist is guided by the community it serves.

Article III: The World We Face

We live within systems that concentrate wealth, treat labor as a product, and isolate people from one another.
Grayslist offers a different path by practicing mutual aid and cooperation.
When we share skills, redistribute resources, and care for each other directly, we build freedom from exploitation and resilience in our lives.

Article IV: Rights and Responsibilities

Rights

Responsibilities

All that we build through Grayslist belongs to the community as a whole. Shared resources exist to meet shared needs.

Article V: Resource Sharing

Resources are distributed according to need, not wealth.
We value cooperation over profit and reinvest any surplus into community improvement.
Every exchange, whether through goods, skills, or time, should reflect care, fairness, and respect for all participants.

Article VI: Adaptation and Change

This constitution is a living document.
Any resident can propose changes or improvements.
Amendments are discussed openly and adopted through community agreement.
As Grayslist evolves, we will maintain our focus on shared power and collective well-being.

Grayslist is built on trust, safety, and respect.
We all share responsibility for maintaining a healthy and welcoming environment.

Conflicts will be addressed with fairness and compassion.
Whenever possible, we use restorative practices that focus on repairing harm and rebuilding trust.

Closing Statement

By joining Grayslist, we commit to caring for one another, sharing what we have, and creating a community where everyone can thrive.
Together, we build a model of cooperation that reaches beyond this building and points toward a more just world.
Grayslist belongs to all of us, and through it, we learn what collective liberation looks like in daily life.
