Food Bank
Every Friday morning, Grayslist coordinates a food delivery to the community room for all residents of Grays Landing. A volunteer driver brings back about thirty boxes of high-quality groceries from the Oregon Food Bank using a shared list of resident names and birthdays.
Because each name can only be used once a month at the drive-through food bank, we rotate through 75 names to satisfy the policy and keep free groceries flowing to the building every week. Residents gather to unload, organize, and share what has been brought, filling the tables with fresh produce, bread, and pantry goods that remain available through the weekend.
We invite everyone to come down around 10:00 a.m. on Fridays to help. Those who lend a hand get the first pick of groceries, in the spirit of our saying, “The baker tastes the bread warm.” meet us in the basement to get first choice!
Through this shared effort, Grayslist turns a weekly delivery into a moment of care, abundance, and connection that keeps the whole community nourished in both body and spirit.
We get some very interesting ingredients in our haul, below are recipes for the trickier items we get regularily, canned pumpkin, giant radishes, giant fennel
